The snowdrops have never been better than during this wet winter which is some consolation and indication of their preferred conditions.

Helleborus (Christmas or Lenten Roses) have got off to a good start.  The tall Harvington varieties in dusky pink hues provide a sophisticated foil to clear bright Daffodils and Snowdrops.  In this Northamptonshire garden, the unusal pale primrose is pure and subtle.  The palmate leaves provide ground cover until next spring when they should be cut back to make way for new fresh growth.  Should black marks appear on the leaves, they should be removed and not left on the ground or in the compost to avoid this virus spreading.
