Emma worked with Bedecon property developers to create contemporary courtyards for adjoining properties in Notting Hill Gate. Repeated across the 3 gardens, a simple palette of plants and materials in a geometric layout maximize the space.  Raised beds with exotic foliage casting shadows on the white render add depth and interest.  Dove grey sandstone paving is offset by quadrants of artificial grass.  This ironic and practical take on the lawn is suited to the clay base revealed by excavations and the shady aspect. Exposure tolerant planting on the balconies and roof terrace provide shelter and structure.  The dramatic green façade is enhanced with the simple use of Festuca and box.
