As part of a complex renovation project, Emma worked with the owners’ architect and builder to create the new front garden and update the large back garden to allow for the new extension and basement.

The kitchen opens into a large sunken terrace and wide steps in naturally riven sandstone flanked by generous Mediterranean planting providing scent, colour and all year interest.

A pair of lawns are bordered by planting in distinct colour schemes ranging from pastels to hot exotic highlights and rich tones.  The Japanese Maples in the central bed and in front of the pergola add interest to the long vista. The espalier apple tree has been joined by a fig and plum as well as herbs.

The bespoke iroko pergola and arch create a long vista from the house and a focal point at the end of the garden.  This provides a shady dining terrace away from the house with arched mirrors, hidden pergola lights and a pendant lamp over the table.  The posts and beams will become clad in scented climbers.
