The grounds of Upper Lodge in The Royal Park at Hampton had been abandoned since WWI, leaving only a few surviving trees.
For this listed historic house, Emma prepared the masterplan and planting plans, supplied the trees, hedging and plants and advised on treework, the new pool and fountain, irrigation, rabbit control, etc.
A dramatic entrance of Yew crescents and pillars frames the facade and screens the gardens from the public. A grid of trees is set in a box parterre while formal lawns and the oval pool are edged with staggered Yew and Beech hedging. The willows and woodland borders at the rear with the ornamental grasses and late perennial parterre blend into the Park.
