A strong design was needed for this highly visible and busy courtyard between the imposing white stucco house and facing Arts & Crafts style artist’s studio.  The lack of architectural harmony and symmetry was offset with the dynamism of the diagonal paving and use of circles. The round table on the paving circle is highlighted by the crescent shaped planting.  Once the lush exotic planting of  palms, tree ferns, fatsia, cordyline and fig, and the jasmines and rose over the pergola mature, the teak rocking chairs and swing seat can be enjoyed in privacy.

Preparation included gaining permission from Kensington Planning to fell a diseased mature Ash tree which had to be skillfully removed by a tried & tested tree surgeon.
